The microfilm copy of the LDS Church Membership records for the wards in Logan and Ogden were searched. I was hoping to find the names of Benjamin's parents in the membership records. Every time his name was listed in the membership records as the spouse of Sarah Curtis, nothing was ever including about his parents' names. I have also tried to document where the family settled after their migration from Michigan. Land and other records still need to be searched. Nothing is conclusive right now.

Newspaper Obituaries

Goal: Looking for an obituary for Benjamin Kingman Curtis. If he had an obituary, maybe it listed the names of his parents or siblings.

• FHL film 1421993, item 1: Salt Lake City old newspaper clippings, collected by Louise Kimball Clark. I searched this record on 18 Oct 1989. This is a computer index of obituaries. Only the name of the deceased was included in the index. No Curtis or Canfield names were listed. Today, the Utah Digital Newspapers project would likely be a better record to search, plus it's online!!!
• FHL film 0321145 is a Card catalog of obituary records compiled from the Deseret News and Tribune, 1851 to June 1963; FHL film 0821648 is an Obituary index file to the Salt Lake Tribune and Deseret News as of 31 December 1970. The contents of this second film includes information from the Journal History and the Improvement Era. Both records were search on 18 October 1989. My notes were: Both of these records appear to be the same, except the title of each film collection. One entry was found for Benjamin Curtis, died 26 Feb 1916; Deseret News entry on 28 Feb 1916:12. Benjamin died in 1902, so this entry is likely not for him. No record was found for a Sarah Curtis about 1891.
